I'm all for patriotism and celebrating your country. But why is it so hard for people to be considerate and doing it by following the law?
I have come to terms with the fact that you have purchased the property on top of the hill from us in order to build a house for yourself and your family. I have tolerated the sounds of construction that goes with that, and taught my dogs to tolerate it as well. The same goes for your two teenage boys driving their Four-wheelers recklessly back and forth up there as well. If they wreck themselves doing it, it's their choice. Just make sure you're staying on your side of the property when you do it. However, you are crossing lines this evening and if it wasn't for the fact that 50 other assholes in this city were doing the same thing and the cops don't seem to give the shit, I would file a report.
I can clearly see you setting off illegal fireworks that you purchased across state lines to enjoy the 4th in your own little celebration as opposed to going to enjoy the public displays like decent folks. What you don't seem to care about is that your aim is shit and they are shooting in the direction of my property. What you don't seem to care about is that we live in the woods (your property bordering those woods) and there's lots of trees and debris. That's okay, I will just wait for all that to catch on fire so I can sue your ass. What I don't appreciate is that as I'm typing this I can still hear my dog barking up a storm in her kennel. Most days in the summer she is content and happy to spend time in her yard enjoying the fresh air. We even live by a gun range and those sounds don't bother her as she's used to them. But what she doesn't like is colorful, deafening explosions going off over her head, and I don't appreciate having to watch her running frantic laps around her yard in a panting fit because she is convinced (as am I) that this is something dangerous and should not be tolerated. I don't blame her. And yet I am left to give her anti-anxiety treats and shut her in, where she can still hear your fireworks detonating, and stroke her while falsely tell her that it's okay.
Because we both know that it is not okay.
I can deal with neighbors. But I would greatly appreciate it, and so would my dogs, if you would not be assholes. Frankly, I hope one of you blows your damn hand off and maybe a trip to the emergency room and becoming another 4th of July statistic would teach you a lesson.

I hope everyone else is having a safe holiday. Please, if you are going to enjoy fireworks keep in mind the health and safety of peoples pets. Loud colorful explosions might be good fun for people but it is not something that pets have the capacity to understand. To them they are confused and don't understand why you don't realize that your home is under attack. So many pets get lost and injured this time of year because they escape yards or jump out windows due to the stress of this holiday. If you have pets who are bothered by fireworks, please take the necessary precautions to keep them safe through the night.
The same goes for if you have war veterans or other individuals with PTSD or noise sensitivity in your area.
It's all good to have fun and show love for your country, but do it with some consideration for others.
